Chief Engineer – Bulk Carrier

The Chief Engineer is head of the engine department, reporting to the Master and responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and safe running of all machinery and technical systems on board an oil/chemical tanker, in full compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and company procedures.

Requirements:

• Candidate must have previous C/E experience on the same vessel type.
• at least 3-4 contracts in rank

Characteristics & skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of 4-stroke medium-speed engines, reduction gears, and propulsion systems;
• Expertise in overall engine-room management, boilers, purifiers, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary machinery;
• Competence in planned maintenance systems (PMS), budgeting, and spare-parts management;
• Proficiency in cargo-handling machinery, inert gas systems, and tank-cleaning operations specific to the oil/chemical trade;
• Sound understanding of bunkering, fuel/oil transfer, and MARPOL Annex I & II compliance;
• Ability to plan drydocking, surveys, and liaise with class, port state, and vetting inspectors;
• Strong troubleshooting and repair capability at sea.
