Captain – Bulk Carrier

The Captain holds overall command of the vessel and is responsible for the safe navigation, cargo operations, crew management, and technical and commercial performance of a container vessel, in full compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and company procedures.

Requirements:

• previous experience in a Captain role on the Bulk carrier
• at least 3-4 contracts in rank

Characteristics & skills:

• Overall command of navigation, watchkeeping, and safe passage planning;
• Strong knowledge of container cargo operations, stowage/lashing, and stability management;
• Understanding of dangerous goods (IMDG), reefer cargo, and bay-plan management;
• Proficiency in ship handling, berthing/unberthing, and manoeuvring in confined waters and congested ports;
• Management of port state control, class, terminal, and charterer requirements;
• Competence in crew management, ISM/ISPS implementation, and emergency response;
• Commercial awareness: schedule reliability, voyage orders, and communication with owners/charterers.
